Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join their finance team for a contract role. Reporting to the Controller, this role will support a portfolio of housing-related entities and play a key role in financial reporting, account analysis, and maintaining the integrity of the organization's financial records. The successful candidate will take ownership of reconciliations, month-end activities, and financial reporting while providing valuable support to both finance leadership and operational stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end working papers
• Assisting with monthly financial reporting packages, including income and expenditure reporting and variance analysis
• Preparing first-draft financial statements and supporting schedules
• Maintaining and analyzing balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Supporting financial oversight of tenant ledgers and property-related accounting activities
• Managing accounting activities across multiple entities, including related-party transactions
• Assisting with process improvements and identifying opportunities to enhance reporting and operational efficiency
• Collaborating with finance, administration, and operational teams to support organizational goals
• Providing guidance and support to junior team members as needed

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
• Experience preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end reporting
• Strong understanding of financial statement preparation and balance sheet maintenance
• Experience working with multiple entities and related-party transactions
• Technically savvy with the ability to understand accounting system structures and configurations
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Collaborative, team-focused approach with a willingness to support where needed
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Experience in property management accounting is considered an asset
• Experience with Yardi is highly desirable
