We are looking for an Accountant to join a transport organization in Toronto, Ontario on a Long-term Contract basis. This position focuses on revenue accounting, account reconciliations, audit support, and the investigation of transaction and interface issues in a high-volume environment. The successful candidate will help maintain reliable financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and support ongoing operational improvements.

Responsibilities:
• Review daily revenue data transfers and assess account balances to confirm transactions are accurate, complete, and reasonable.
• Investigate discrepancies across revenue and payment records, determine underlying causes, and coordinate timely resolution with internal teams and external partners.
• Reconcile high-volume general ledger accounts and analyze variances to support accurate monthly financial results.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries while validating the integrity of financial data recorded in accounting systems.
• Maintain clear supporting records and working papers for audit activities, reconciliations, and control testing.
• Produce monthly reporting on revenue activity and transaction volumes, and contribute to the enhancement of management reporting metrics.
• Take ownership of assigned revenue-related areas during external and internal audits by gathering documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Assist with testing and finance support for system enhancements, interface changes, and new operational equipment affecting revenue processes.
• Provide administrative and operational backup to other finance team members as needed.
• Post-secondary education in accounting, business administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial reconciliation roles.
• Strong understanding of general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and transaction analysis in a high-volume setting.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including lookup functions, pivot tables, logical formulas, and data analysis tools.
• Experience using ERP or accounting platforms such as SAP or S/4HANA is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with audit practices, internal controls, and financial process documentation.
• Ability to investigate issues thoroughly, communicate findings clearly, and work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
• Exposure to accounting software and related finance functions such as accounts payable, payroll, invoicing, or expense systems is an asset.
