We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join a busy fuel and transportation organization in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting specialist who enjoys working closely with day-to-day financial operations and partnering with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and finance colleagues to keep records accurate and up to date. The successful candidate will contribute to core accounting activities, support timely reporting, and help maintain strong financial controls in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting activities by working closely with receivables, payables, and finance team members to support accurate full-cycle processing.

• Complete recurring reconciliations for bank accounts, balance sheet items, fuel-related purchases, and fleet expenses, and investigate discrepancies promptly.

• Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules to assist with month-end close and ensure financial records are complete and properly organized.

• Review high-volume transaction data to confirm accuracy, resolve inconsistencies, and maintain reliable general ledger information.

• Assist with indirect tax calculations, filings, and account reconciliations in accordance with applicable reporting requirements.

• Monitor cash movement, collection patterns, and vendor payment timing to support effective short-term financial planning.

• Produce internal financial information and operational reports that help leaders assess performance and make informed decisions.

• Maintain organized documentation and follow internal control practices that support audit readiness and consistent accounting procedures.

• Partner with accounting supervisors and cross-functional stakeholders to address priorities and provide support across operational finance processes

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a high-volume operational, transportation, or logistics setting.
• Progress toward or enrolment in a recognized accounting designation such as CPA.
• Demonstrated experience with account, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end activities.
• Working knowledge of indirect tax processes and general accounting principles.
• Strong Excel skills, including the ability to analyze data, reconcile information, and prepare reports.
• Experience using accounting or ERP platforms such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, QuickBooks, or comparable systems.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
