Tasks- Plan, develop and co-ordinate programs of geotechnical, geological, geophysical or geohydrological data acquisition, analysis and mapping
- Supervise technologists, technicians and other engineers and scientists
- Prepare recommendations and reports for the construction or improvement of civil engineering projects
- Plan, develop and conduct studies in mining exploration, mine evaluation and feasibility studies
- Conduct surveys and studies of ore deposits and mine design
- Design, develop and implement computer applications for geophysics, geochemistry, geology and mapping
- Analyze reports and prepare recommendations on settlement of buildings, stability of slopes, and effects of earthquakes to support construction and civil engineering projects

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses - Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association
