Job Description
As a member of our drafting and design team, your responsibilities will include:
Draft and detail steel joist and deck layouts according to contract drawings, customer requirements, CISC codes and standard practices;
Perform steel joist and deck detailing and create shop order documents;
Collect information, including contract documents, codes and reference drawings, from all available sources;
Perform verifications for dimension correctness and interference between elements;
Incorporate and compile any possible adjustments or changes substantiated by revised drawings;
Utilize computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software, as well as in-house custom software;
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner with customers, coworkers and supervisors.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must:
Possess an Engineering Design and Drafting Technology Diploma or equivalence;
Have proven ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, regulations, drawings and job specifications;
Have exceptional organizational and English communication skills (verbal and written);
Be able to work well in a team environment;
Canadian working experience in civil/structural drafting – primarily with steel, will be considered an asset;
Knowledge and experience using Tekla Structures and other 3D CAD software will be considered an asset;
Punctuality, maturity, reliability, an ability to work well under pressure while delivering exceptional customer service is essential to excel in this role.
Additional Information
Our Environment:
Working safely is a condition of employment at Canam. General office and constant exposure to computer display. Safety PPE (personal protective equipment) must be worn while onsite and in the production plant (steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses, etc.) Daily interaction with managers and other team members.
