Description
The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction over the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel. The KRG is currently seeking to recruit an energetic and motivated candidate to work in Kuujjuaq, in the capacity of:
DIRECTOR, RECREATION
(Term with possibility of permanency – Full-time)
Reporting to the Director General, the Director of Recreation is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, coordinating, and managing all functions and activities related to recreation programs, services, projects, and activities within Nunavik. More specifically the Director of Recreation will:
• Plan, supervise and coordinate departmental staff and activities;
• Manage the financial resources of the department including budget preparation and follow-up;
• Oversee the negotiation and application of federal and provincial agreements, as well as other
funding agreements related to the department’s activities;
• Maintain communication with various stakeholders and the public;
• Supervise the technical assistance provided to Northern Villages in the areas of sports and
recreation;
• Supervise all regional recreational activities and programs for which the department is responsible
(Arctic Winter Games, Eastern Arctic Summer Games, CIRQINIQ, Nunavik Rocks Music Program,
Nunavik kite-ski, etc.);
• Act as a representative of the KRG for matters related to the department’s mandate;
• Prepare and implement annual objectives for the department and prepare long term planning;
• Evaluate and renew yearly Plan of action;
• Implement mechanisms and indicators to measure and report on the department’s performance;
• Establish and maintain communication between the department and other organizations and
stakeholders, where applicable;
• Promote the development of recreational activities within Nunavik;
• Develop programs intended to stimulate recreation activities within the region and implement and
supervise the delivery of said programs.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or in a related field, exceptional relevant work experience will also
be considered;
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience;
• Experience working in an isolated region or with Inuit/indigenous communities will be considered an
asset.
• Strong leadership skills and a capacity to motivate a diverse team in a dynamic fast-paced
environment.
• Creative thinking, strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated resourcefulness.
• Strong capacity to understand and manage situations that develop and change quickly;
• Excellent analytical skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: English, French or
Inuktitut.

Salary: Min: $ 112,469/year, max: $ 154,646/year based on 35 hours/week

Cost of living differential: Minimum of $8 500/year
Food allowance: Minimum of $3 903/year
Annual leave trips: maximum of 3 per person annually

Vacation: 20 days/year plus 10 days in lieu of overtime
Statutory Holidays: 20 days including 10 during Christmas holidays.
