We are looking for an interim Accounting Manager to join our client's team in the Tri-cities area. This position will lead key accounting activities across receivables, payables, and month-end close while supporting accurate financial reporting in a multi-entity environment. The role is well suited to a hands-on individual who brings strong analytical judgment, a process improvement mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational setting.

Responsibilities:

• Lead accounts receivable activities by overseeing cash application, monitoring invoice status, and maintaining accuracy across multiple entities and jurisdictions.

• Act as the primary owner for timely cash posting and ensure incoming payments are recorded completely and correctly.

• Manage project-related billing by reviewing customer invoicing against contractual terms and resolving discrepancies as needed.

• Collaborate with the accounts payable lead to strengthen workflows, support system enhancements, and improve processing efficiency.

• Work closely with operational partners, including warehouse and management teams, to confirm appropriate coding and accurate handling of high-volume transactions.

• Review general ledger activity with a focus on subcontractor costs, materials, and other project-driven expenses to support reliable financial records.

• Contribute to month-end close through analytical review, preparation of accruals and deferrals, and completion of supporting schedules and reconciliations.

• Maintain balance sheet continuity by preparing or reviewing reconciliations and ensuring supporting documentation is complete and accurate.

• Identify opportunities to refine accounting processes, reinforce internal controls, and improve the quality and integrity of financial data.

• Investigate system-related issues in partnership with finance and IT stakeholders to support stable and effective accounting operations.

• Proven experience in an accounting leadership role with responsibility for receivables, payables, general ledger review, and month-end close.
• Background supporting process improvement initiatives and working through accounting system changes within a complex business environment.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to review financial data thoroughly and identify inconsistencies quickly.
• Positive, adaptable approach with the ability to manage priorities effectively in a high-volume, operationally focused setting.
• Experience with account reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, deferrals, and month-end journal entries.
• Working knowledge of project or job costing principles; experience in project-based accounting environments is considered an asset.
• Proficiency with Excel at an intermediate to advanced level; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Sage Timberline is an advantage.
• Inventory accounting exposure and experience in larger, process-driven organizations would be beneficial.
