We are currently seeking a Technical Sales Manager to add depth and strength to our Business Development group and focus on achieving our growth goals in our Services and Product business areas. The Technical Sales Manager will bring a strong understanding of the Aerospace & Defense market sector (and/or other sectors requiring safety-critical engineering and products), acquisition practices and programs in order to lead business development efforts and business capture. This position will be of interest to a proven sales professional with a strong technical foundation in systems, software or hardware engineering/certification or a strong technical leader looking for a new challenge in a role that entails development of new and current customer accounts.

The Technical Sales Manager’s objectives are:
- to work directly with clients to understand their needs, define and scope unique solutions to satisfy their requirements.
- contribute towards the achievement of the company’s growth objectives

The Technical Sales Manager will report to the Director of Business Development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Independently drive sales growth of our services and product portfolio
- Generate a sales funnel through self-led initiatives (market research, industry assessment of needs and direction, product and/or service strengths and deficiencies, regional resource constraints, potential target customers, etc)
- Take ownership of select current customer accounts
- Work collaboratively with engineering Project Managers
- Promote company’s services and products and build strong customer relationships and be the customer advocate internally
- Develop a thorough knowledge of the Customer’s organization(s) and business direction
- Develop and implement capture plans for opportunities with all assigned accounts; identify opportunities, assess the environment, create winning strategies based on the customer’s needs and value proposition & lead the sales process through closure
- Review all customer queries (RFI, RFP, RFQ, etc) to understand scope of effort required and work with key staff responsible for the response and resulting implementation to ensure customer needs are fully addressed and consistent with account and marketing strategies
- Provides market intelligence (market trends, competitive information, regulatory issues, strengths and weaknesses based on customer feedback, etc.)
- Provide bookings forecast and status reports for assigned accounts
- Represent the Organization at business development events, industry shows and industry events
- Other duties as assigned

The chosen candidate will be persuasive, adaptable and creative with proven leadership and communication skills and excellent decision making and judgment attributes to succeed in a collaborative environment. The candidate will be expected to work with minimal supervision as part of a small team.

Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline from an accredited institute
- +5 years of experience in a project engineering environment with a strong grasp of product and program management or 10+ years of related engineering experience
- Significant experience of direct client interaction, at management and working levels
- Demonstrated sales and negotiation experience
- Strong presentation skills
- Bilingual English / French oral & writing skills
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, engineering management tools, CRM tools, etc
- Excellent planning and organizational skills

Desired Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Export Controls and regulatory environment
- Experience in A&D, industry regulations, including procurement acquisition framework & practices and/or in other target market sectors
- Knowledge of systems, hardware and/or software engineering standards
- Knowledge of basic contracts and methods

Miscellaneous Requirements
- Ability to travel as required
- Must be a Permanent Resident or Citizen of Canada
