    The Engineer – Contracts manages the various steps of the execution of projects contracted out for the Region’s three engineering fields to meet operational requirements and establish the long term reliability of the infrastructure and to ensure uniformity in the process application; provides direction, coordination and technical guidance to the work site technical inspection team and is actively involved in security matters and provides expertise to other departments.


    • Responsible for the delivery of all technical/ engineering deliverables/tasks to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets;
    • Ensures that all steps in contract processes are followed and that the work is performed in accordance with the contract drawings and specifications, taking into account the Corporation’s objectives with respect to quality, cost and execution timeline constraints;
    • Plans and carries out site visits with the contractors, along with any meetings and inspections required for the proper execution of the contract;
    • Ensure the final commissioning and start-up of all new works to a fully operating state;
    • Complete and/or oversee the completion of designs, specifications and drawings for all assigned work (i.e. oversee design, draft and/or inspection work, signing off documents) in accordance with Engineering principles, codes, standards and regulations;
    • Provides engineering expertise to other departments and gives support in the realization of projects, as necessary.
    • Prepare budgets and manage expenditures within approved limits;
    • Participate in the medium and long term planning of infrastructure maintenance;
    • Conduct inspections, assessments, feasibility studies, and various analyses;
    • Provide support to operation’s safety programs and initiatives as required;
    • Ensure application of health, safety and environmental standards to meet legislated requirements and company policy.

    Experience and knowledge

    • A minimum of five (5) years experience in the fields of projects and contracts management as well as in the evaluation of remedial options.

    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • Professional Engineer license in the Province of Ontario (PEO) or Member of l'Ordre des ingéneurs du Québec
    • Valid Class G (ON) or Class 5 (QC) driver's license and insurable driving record

    PROJECTED START DATE: 03/01/2018

    HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 per week


    Pay Grade : S-gr - G
    Range (Min) : CAN50.13/hour
    Range (Max): CAN56.08/hour
