Communicator research operators intercept and analyze electronic transmissions, including foreign communications. They also protect Government of Canada’s computer networks. Their primary duties are to collect, process, analyze and report on electromagnetic activity on radio frequency using state-of-the-art equipment. This trade is also available in the Reserve Force (part time).

TASKS:

• Collect, process, analyze and report on electromagnetic activity on radio frequency, using highly sophisticated equipment
• Manage and protect computer networks
• Ensure information technology is secure
• Use and maintain classified publications

CONDITIONS:

In the Regular Force, your work location is not garanteed since you may be asked to work anywhere in Canada. However, if you only want to work in your area, the Reserve Force may be an alternative. Military personnel can be asked to work on atypical schedules. Salary increases according to the rank and experience of the member according to the rates of pay applicable on April 1, 2017. Requirements

  • Essential - To be aged between 16 and 56 years old
  • Essential - To be a Canadian citizen
  • Essential - 24 secondary IV or V units OR DEP OR GED/AENS
  • Essential - Have completed at least Math 416 (CST4)

  • Asset - Written and spoken french
