    The Application Director will oversee all optimizing activities for the value, cost and risk of applications. The Director will report directly to the Chief Information Office and will be managin a team. The Director will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the department and is required to hold all applications delivery teams accountable for the optimization of the cost (manage the budget), risk and value of applications throughout their life cycle.

    Job Description

    - Provide leadership, vision and guidance to the applications department to ensure contribution to the company’s success;
    - Work with the IT department other stakeholders of the company on the implementation of a new ERP (including POS)- this will be the focus for the first 18 months of the role;
    - Manage the application group, which has specific responsibilities, such as building or configuring, maintaining or upgrading, and removal of applications throughout their life cycle;
    - Work with managers to develop an overall IT strategy in order to align with the company’s strategic plan;
    - Develop key relationships with managers across the organization to guide and demonstrate how applications can generate new sources of value by evaluating the technical and commercial capacities of the application portfolio and the costs/ risks associated;
    - Define and improve methodologies and procedures for the application life cycle management in accordance with best practices and practical experiences of continuous improvement;
    - Provide support and facilitate innovative and experimental application work to test new ideas, all within budgets and deadlines;
    - Oversee support activities alongside infrastructure and operations to ensure the applications perform well in production;
    - Ensure the application life cycle is in line with corporate social responsibility, environmental and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation;
    - Oversee the application department, developing skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the company, as well as building on existing skills to address new personnel needs;
    - Implement and manage application KPIs, such as reporting, metrics and benchmarks;
    - Maintain relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization;
    - Conduct regular reviews with shareholders to evaluate the satisfaction with applications, publish results and, when necessary, implement action plans to improve satisfaction.


    - Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in computer science, business management in IT or a related field experience in Retail and/or It management role;
    - 10 years of demonstrated leadership experience building cross-organizational consensus with exposure to technology providers and/or business clients in the retail industry;
    - High levels of personal integrity when dealing with professional matters of the organization and dealing with sensitive and confidential data relating to risks and costs;
    - Experience with management of a team in application development, implementation or management. Ability to lead, enable and motivate teams by providing advice and guidance;
    - Understanding of strategic business objectives, achieve goals and the ability to drive results toward those objectives in line with the culture of the company;
    - Open-mindedness and ability to react to rapid technological changes, processes and needs while working under pressure;
    - Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with staff, business stakeholders and senior management;
    - Ability to communicate technical concepts in order to enhance understanding and drive decisions that lead to positive outcomes;
    - Strong analytical, data processing and problem-solving skills;
