Position: Junior Electrical Engineer/Lab Tester – Lighting Industry

Our client, an international company specialized in custom design lighting solutions, is looking for a Junior Electrical Engineer/Lab Tester to join their team located in LaSalle, Montreal.

In this role, you will create and run the application support lab. You will be performing laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data to support in the foundation stages of research and development (R&D) and in scientific analysis and investigation. You will also provide all the required technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively, while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines.

Brief Overlook of the Tasks:

- Assure the setup, testing, and calibration of LED and fluorescent lightings
- Perform test and measurement of lighting intensity, color, viewing angle etc. based on test plans and work instructions
- Prepare reports about lighting measurement results
- Build prototypes and assist in electrical testing
- Assist in the development of electronic component test plans
- Carry out routine tasks accurately and follow strict methodologies to ensure standards are maintained
- Carry out sampling, testing, measuring, recording, and analysis of results as part of the Engineering team
- Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems
- Ensure lighting fixture testing using the goniophotometer, following IES approved methods (LM79, LM80), assuring that the testing procedure is carried out with excellence and thoroughness
- Support the Engineering team in creating and implementing lab testing procedures and processes
- Conduct audits for quality control and report findings and recommendations
- Provide technical assistance whenever electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, or after construction

What you need to succeed in this role:

- College degree or technical school (electrical, electronic, engineering)
- Analytical and creative thinker
- Strong autonomy and team work skills
- Excellent knowledge (theoretical and practical) of all laboratory procedures
- Very good command of MS Office
- Knowledge of National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation program (NVLAP) – an asset
- Knowledge of IES Fundamentals of Lighting – an asset
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Perfect command of English, both written and spoken
