Our client is looking for a paymaster to carry out the payroll and complete the full pay cycle tasks of annual and hourly wage employees in Canada (Quebec and Alberta).

Salary : To be discussed


Prepares, seizes and validates payroll information. Is responsible for verifying payroll information and inquires with immediate supervisors when discrepancies occur;

Checks the timesheets and ensures that the calculations are accurate;

Maintains and updates banks (sickness, bank of hours etc.);

Calculates vacation and overtime;

Ensures the integrity of information on employee records. Manages periods of absence (maternity, sickness, accident at work, vacation, etc.) and group insurance premiums collected on employee records;

Ensures direct contact with the insurer for the administrative follow-up of the files;

Is responsible for paying RRSP contributions;

Ensures that all necessary information about the employee and his/her status is available for entry into the computerized project management system;

Calculates the sums to be paid at terminations;

Prepares and fills the records of employment. Is responsible for the annual production of T4 information slips and ensures that payroll deduction payments to governments and insurance companies are properly completed;

Produces various reports, as required, and responds to payroll managers ' enquiries;

Validates the various requests and ensures their integrity, as well as the discrepancies between these applications and the policies and regulations in place before entering the data into the system;

Monitors the increments of the hourly employees;

If necessary, responds to employee questions;

Responsible for the year-end process (including production of the training report);

Participates in the evolution of the payroll system (process optimization, participation in the future implementation of a time management system and/or a HRIS);

Perform, if necessary, all related tasks in the position to ensure continuity of service.


College Diploma (DEC) in administration, or equivalent

Canadian Payroll Association Level 1 certificate, an asset

Minimum 5 years of experience in a comparable position directly related to payroll

5 years and more experience in the full payroll cycle

Expatriate payroll experience

Having already made Quebec and Alberta payrolls, and having already completed payroll in another Canadian province, an asset

Bilingual (oral and written)

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel (manipulation of files with macros and pivot tables), Word and Outlook

Good knowledge of tax laws and government regulations

Knowledge of the Desjardins payroll system an asset

  • Asset - Knowledge of the Desjardins payroll system
  • Asset - United Kingdom and Alberta payroll experience
