Dieppe is a city in the county of Westmorland, in the southeast of the province of New Brunswick. It is in the heart of Trois-Rivières, on the banks of the Petitcodiac River, and forms the majority French-speaking part of Greater Moncton.
Dieppe is also the largest predominantly French-speaking city in Canada outside of Quebec. The subject of equality between the two linguistic communities has been topical for decades and mandatory bilingual signage, a first in the province, was voted by the municipal council in 2010.
The most common employment sectors in Dieppe are services, commerce and retail, health and social services, education, finance, and real estate.
Dieppe has an industrial park. Paper converting, construction equipment manufacturing, and food processing are among the main industries.
The city has many businesses, some of which are located at Place Champlain, the largest shopping center in New Brunswick.
Dieppe is well served in terms of transport. Several major roads pass through or near the city. On its territory is the Roméo LeBlanc International Airport of Greater Moncton. The industrial park is serviced by rail and the Moncton train station is nearby. The municipality offers public transit service via Codiac Transpo.
