Coordinator
1 year term position (with possibility for extension)
WRCFS is a mandated First Nations child and family services Agency responsible to provide
a full range of services, including statutory services, voluntary services and prevention
services to the children and families of its nine First Nations, residing on and off reserve.
The purpose of the programs of WRCFS is to sustain, support, and enhance family and
community life. Reporting to the Executive Director and working in conjunction with the
Agency’s management team, the DR Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination
and implementation of the differential response work plan for WRCFS. Differential response
will provide prevention and early intervention services using a strength-based approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Overall development and implementation of the WRCFS work plan for the implementation
of the DR service delivery model throughout the WRCFS service delivery area
Work in collaboration with WRCFS staff to transition teams to a DR service delivery model
Advise and consult with the Management Team to highlight areas of challenge or required
adjustment
Assist teams in the development of prevention programs and enhance current programs
where applicable
Establish relationships with key collaterals and assist in incorporating key collaterals into
the service response of the agency
Maintain accurate, detailed, and up to date data and record keeping systems
Work cooperatively with the WRCFS Management Team to develop a communication
strategy
Identify staff training needs and assist in the development of plans to address same
Qualifications:
BSW or equivalent in social services field is a definite asset, with ability to demonstrate
knowledge and understanding of child and family service practice. A related postsecondary
degree, with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be
considered.
Project Management Diploma/Certificate with demonstrated experience in the
successful completion of projects
Demonstrated and comprehensive knowledge and experience with project management
in social services
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program and community development
Demonstrated knowledge of collateral services/community resources and how to access
same
Direct experience in First Nations child and family services preferred
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated skills in working as part of a
team
Must have demonstrated knowledge and appreciation of Ojibway culture and the
aspirations of First Nations
Ability to speak Ojibway will be considered an asset
Must have computer training and/or knowledge of Microsoft Office
The successful applicant must provide WRCFS with a current criminal record and child abuse
registry check prior to commencement of employment. Travel is required. A valid driver’s
license and access to means of transportation for work is a condition of employment.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and training and according to Provincial pay
scale.
