THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MANITOUWADGE Requires a TREASURER/DEPUTY CLERK The Township of Manitouwadge is a Northern Community, with a population of 2,400, located halfway between Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie (54 km off Highway 17). This safe, clean and healthy Community offers many opportunities to the outdoor enthusiast. Reporting to the Municipal Manager Clerk, the Treasurer/Deputy Clerk is responsible for the effective planning, administration, maintenance and operation of the Treasury Department and performs statutory duties as established by Provincial legislation, Council by-laws, and policies and ensures that requirements of the Public Sector Accounting Board are met. Knowledgeable of and perform the duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Clerk in the absence of the Municipal Manager Clerk. The successful candidate will work within the Township's Management Team and must be proficient with computer programs such as; spreadsheets, word processing, presentation and database software, municipal finance, taxation and utility billing applications, as well as e-mail, Internet etc.. This position requires good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and supervisory skills as well as excellent organizational and time management skills. In addition to municipal experience the ideal candidate will have a post secondary degree or diploma in Accounting/Business, with at least 5 years progressive experience in a related field. Completion of CMO designation and/or progression towards a professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) will be an asset. A sound understanding of, and demonstrated experience in public administration, municipal finance and accounting, administrative and supervisory procedures, utility billing, investment and debt management, auditing principles and practices, a knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, municipal long term financial planning, purchasing and taxation experience, and supervisory experience. The salary range for the position is $44,044 to $73,400. The Township of Manitouwadge offers a competitive comprehensive benefit package.
