Canoe is currently looking for a Senior Programmer/Analyst for Toronto.
The senior Programmer Analyst will be responsible for designing, developing and performing technical analyses of IT solutions, and making recommendations in line with functional specifications. He/she will participate in the deployment of PHP and/or Perl websites and will try to find ways to improve the performance of applications that have been developed. He/she will work on Canoe’s sites for the general public: projects to develop new sites, site maintenance and related tasks. He/she will comply with the IT procedures in force and with any applicable standards, promote IT best practices and actively participate in knowledge management, sharing knowledge with colleagues. As needed, he/she will support IT systems users. He/she will act as Team Leader and produce and update the documentation on the software that has been modified.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The senior Programmer Analyst will be responsible for:
1. Using technical analyses to assess his/her work
2. Estimating the workload
3. Developing PHP and Perl websites
4. Suggesting IT solutions
5. Running unit tests to check his/her own work
6. Verifying the impact of his/her work on the product via integration tests
7. Responding to requests for changes
8. Complying with IT standards and best practices
9. Carrying out deployment plans and deploying products
10. Producing documentation related to modified software components
11. Coaching junior and intermediate programmers
12. Supporting users
Requirement & skills
• Technical college diploma or Bachelor's degree in computer science
• At least 10 years of relevant experience
• Proficient in PHP, Perl, XML, CSS and HTML
• Technical analysis proficiency
• Proficient in the LAMP platform (Linux - Apache - MySQL - PHP)
• Ability to meet commitments and deadlines
• Results oriented, motivated, a leader and a team player
• Bilingual, spoken and written (Asset)
