Quebec Index remains favourable with the creation of 3,800 new jobs
The Quebec Jobboom Index dropped 1.2 points in September to 79.7 %, offsetting the previous month’s gain of 3,800 new jobs. This decrease reflects data compiled by Statistics Canada over the past 10 years, which show a downward trend in job creation in the province of Quebec during the month of September.
The services-producing sector posted a net increase of 5,400 new jobs in August, with gains made in the following sub-sectors: Finance, insurance, real estate and leasing (+ 9,400), Information, culture and recreation (+ 8,400), Accommodation and food services (+ 5,600), Educational services (+ 4,400), Health care and social assistance (+ 1,800) and Public administration (+ 1,700). However, these gains were offset by major losses in the following sub-sectors: Professional, scientific and technical services (-15,000), Business, building and other support services (-7,200) and Other services
(-5,000).

Over the past 12 months, employment in Quebec has remained stable.
