  • Mandate

    Facilitates the growth of the organization by promoting/assisting in enhancing the profitability, market share and NPS for a PCD Branch including the RIA’s and supports the PCD’s strategic business objectives. Recruit established and rookie Investment Advisors. A critical part of this role is to establish strong relationships with peers, partners and in the community.

    Key Accountabilities

    Business Delivery and Operational Effectiveness
    Manage a full-service, retail brokerage branch, including but not limited to: new business development, client service, operations, communications, HR management and relationships with bank (BMO) branches
    Accountable for Branch profitability and management of branch staff

    Risk management & Controls
    Branch adherence to internal/external Compliance regulations and requirements
    Ensure proper adherence to all aspects of First Principles Our Code of Conduct and Ethics
    Follow security and safeguarding procedures and apply appropriate due diligence for the prevention of loss due to fraud, counterfeiting, money laundering or defalcation in accordance with Bank policy
    Ensure compliance regulations are adhered to (may include monitoring sub-branches)
    Protect the Bank’s assets by adhering to all banking, investment and lending regulations (as appropriate), Policies and Procedures, legal and ethical requirements, process requirements, bank guidelines and
    established risk guidelines
    Participate in audits and compliance reviews as assigned and conduct follow up and coaching as required

    Relationship Management
    Build & develop productive working relationships with Bank of Montreal branch partners
    Ensure Branch provides high standard of client experience
    Hold Investment Advisors accountable to their business plans and regularly review business plans with them

    Talent Management
    Recruit, develop and promote the best; effectively deploy talent across the organization in accordance with the strategy and business plans; recruit & develop IA Trainee’s
    Monitor & support the RIA’s and network with BMO partners
    Identify & develop leaders to achieve their full potential and build strong, diverse and effective teams
    Set high standards and clear expectations; hold leadership team accountable; conduct thorough performance assessments; coach and provide candid feedback
    Provide development opportunities for individuals identified with upward growth potential
    Sustain a culture that focuses on clients, growth and pace

    Managerial Leadership
    Provides overall leadership and strategic direction to branch, by setting context and direction, defining accountabilities, tasks and assignments and establishing boundaries for decision-making and approvals
    Provides leadership, direction and planning to align tasks and branch with division and overall organizational goals
    Establishes and maintains managerial practices in order to build a high performance work environment within and across Investment Advisors.
    Be a role model to all employees within the branch
    Ensures consistent communication of PCD strategy and messaging

    Change and Innovation
    Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of existing operational methods and workflows by identifying, recommending and implementing process improvements

    Able to effectively communicate and implement ongoing changes

    Business acumen
    Proven supervisory/leadership capability and experience
    Exceptional people skills and the ability to communicate with all types of individuals
    Proven track record in developing and growing a related business preferred
    Experience managing a team
    Expertise in relationship building
    BMO NB specific sales and service experience preferred
    Prior management experience
    Proven relationship management skills

    University degree
    Canadian Securities Course and RISR registered
    Branch Manager license
    Successful Completion of CSC and CPH and RISK registered
    Minimum of 7 – 15 years of relevant professional experience
    Must have all the same Proficiencies as those they are to Supervise such as Derivatives Fundamentals Course / Options Licensing & Options Supervision
