Description
Under the supervision of the section head, mechanical design and engineering services, the mechanical design engineer will be part of a team working on various development and bringing-in-production projects.
Responsibilities
The mechanical design engineer will be mainly allocated to projects of vehicles and weapons systems and his/her main responsibilities will include:
• With design technicians, develop a 3D model illustrating the various components of the project
• Develop mechanical parts to be manufactured
• Manage and provide technical assistance to suppliers
• Link with the engineering and production departments
• Oversee the production of technical documents
• Conduct design reviews with the project team
• Attend and support project reviews with the customer.
If the assignment schedule of the mechanical design group permits it, the applicant may be required to perform the following functions as design engineer:
• Perform mechanical design according to customer specifications (concept, design, calculation of mechanical strength, choice of materials, components, processes, and methods)
• Implement and validate prototypes
• Demonstrate compliance with respect to the design specifications
• Produce the tree structure and oversee the production of drawings
• Approve drawings
• Assist the bringing in production of the developed equipment
• Assist the test team by participating in or managing the validation of pre-production units
• Participate in the evaluation of future projects.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with over 4 years of relevant experience in design and project management
• Experience in the development of resistant electronic modules
• Experience in developing molded and machined mechanical parts
• Experience in manufacturing process and bringing into production
• Experience in supervising production of technical documents
• Experience working in a multi-project environment
• Great ability to work in teams on projects with tight deadlines
• Bilingualism (French and English)
Assets
• Experience in computer aided design, ideally with CATIA
• Experience in mechanical testing (destructive and non-destructive)
• Experience on military equipment development projects
