Mechanical and electrical engineering Team Leader

JOB PURPOSE:
Lead and coach a team of 5 to 8 mechanical and electrical design engineers and technologists in the development and releasing of Productivity Monitoring and GPS Guidance embedded system for open pit mining machines. The team leader is responsible for design, mechanical and electrical fitting and productization of the embedded system composed of electronic and power modules, LCD displays and cabling.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
• Resolve technical issues encountered by the team during the specifications, concept, design, and prototyping project phases;
• Coordinate product releasing activities with external process partners;
• Define and optimize team processes, to improve overall effectiveness, quality and time to market velocity;
• Accountable for development work estimates and planning;
• Work closely with manufacturing engineer teams to ensure a smooth transition to production, resolving any manufacturability issues;
• Continuously seek ways to improve product quality while reducing product cost;
• Provide a supportive work environment for the team as well as mentor, coach and develop others.
Requirements
- Essential - Bachelor Degree Engineering mechanical/electrical
- Essential - 10 years experience hardware development
- Essential - 3 years experience team leading role
- Important - Ex. cabling syst, elect module, LCD screen, sensor
Knowledge and abilities
- Essential - Experience with ProE & TeamCenter
- Important - Bilingual
- Essential - Strong project manag. skills, exp with MS Project
- Essential - Strong communication skills
- Essential - Strong organisational& interpersonal skills
