Group Director, Information Management and Technology Services

Provides leadership and direction for the Information Management and Technology Services department.
Leads the development and execution of the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Strategy, IM/IT projects, work plans, and policies with a view to ensure that they are aligned with the corporate strategies and needs of the business units.

Ensures thecorporate requirements and standards for a robust and reliable information technology and telecommunications architecture are defined and supported through the provision of operating and security systems, software applications and user support.

Role:

Establishes the overall strategic direction for the enterprise’s information technology and information management services, in consultation with business units. 35%

• Leads the development of an EIM Strategy, in close collaboration with business units, aligned with operational needs and priorities.
• Leads the IMT Advisory Committee to define requirements and obtain agreement on priorities and actions, within EIM Strategy.
• Provides IT investment recommendations to various levels of decision-making authorities (e.g. IMT Advisory Committee, CFO, EMC etc.) based on projects’ alignment, readiness, cost and risk assessment.
• Provides strategic guidance to IM/IT directors in setting the department’s goals, priorities and performance standards, and oversees the continuous improvement and delivery of IMT services.
• Provides strategic guidance in the development of the IT Strategy, policies and practices.
• Assesses technology risks, plans mitigation strategies and takes appropriate corrective actions.

Establishes effective governance structures and processes 25%

• Engages internal clients in assessing IM and IT needs, aligning approaches to information management, making decisions concerning technology investment and executing projects.
• Collaborates with internal partners to achieve business objectives requiring IM and IT solutions.
• Provides the leadership needed for effective processes to assess client and user needs, identify requirements, propose solutions and test the fit of proposed solutions.
Manages and coaches employees. 20%
• Provides feedback, coaching, mentoring and development opportunities to create and maintain a high-functioning team and foster a positive work environment within the department.
• Ensures effective communication, dynamics and cooperation within and across teams to support coordinated and effective work.
• Manages the recruitment and selection of resources, as required.
• Provides on-going monitoring of directors’ (and team members’) performance against benchmarks.

Manages the overall IMT department budget and supplier contracts. 10%

• Plans and manages the overall IMT department budget, with input from IM/IT Directors
• Oversees the selection of suppliers and consultants and the management of related relationships.
• Ensures that suppliers meet prescribed deadlines, approved budgets for deliverables and quality expectations.

Acts as a strategic advisor to influence the effective use of of IMT’s applications to achieve the enterprise’s objectives 10%
• Monitors industry best practices and emerging trends in IM and IT in order to recommend technology, policies and processes to meet business needs.
• Advises senior management on trends and directions in technology and provides business and technical advice.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

EDUCATION REQUIRED (includes certifications, designations, etc.) SUBJECT MATTER/FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Other Experience/Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in information technology or equivalent
• Graduate degree in business or equivalent



• Ten or more years’ experience in managing IM/IT functions and departments
• Minimum six years’ experience in senior management, including at least three years with responsibilities for operations in multiple geographic locations
• Knowledge and experience with the application of technology to support complex information management and knowledge management requirements
• Knowledge of information technologies, business systems and new technology concepts, opportunities, trends and markets
• Bilingualism (French and English) is a must
• Leadership skills to establish direction, align people, build commitment and secure engagement toward achieving goals
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
