Software Designer - Java

The candidate will be responsible for the design, development and deployment of applications and software components of iControl, Miranda’s Network Monitoring System.
Tasks and responsibilities
Design, code, integrate and test software components for multiple products and projects
Keep design documentation up to date for each feature
Review existing code and modify software components while maintaining compatibility
Perform unit tests and participate in the product integration activities
Present designs to peers for review
Collaborate with the testing group to perform bug fixing and troubleshooting of problems
Participate in peer design reviews
Collaborate with technical support teams to resolve customer issues

Autonomous & self motivated
Ability to speak and write in English and French
Ability to understand customer requirements
Facility to learn existing software
Proven track record of successfully working with cross-functional teams
Strong time managements skills
Academic Requirements and Technical Knowledge
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science
Strong object oriented programming skills with Java and/or C++
Good understanding of distributed applications and technologies
Knowledge of control and monitoring systems is an asset
Knowledge of web technologies considered an asset
Knowledge in designing and implementing user interfaces is an asset
Knowledge of the video and audio technologies is an asset
Knowledge of SQL is an asset
3 -5 years in Java development (J2SE)
5 or more years experience designing, coding and testing object oriented software
Experience developing distributed components and Java network technologies
Experience developing software on LinuxExperience with Agile based methodologies
Experience with Data modelling and Database access optimization is an asset
Experience with Postgres an asset
Experience with deployment and integration of components in a large scale system considered an asset
