The Project Manager (PM) position is a role in which the individual is responsible for managing one or more technical projects/project teams at a time. The Project Manager is responsible for conducting, analyzing and improving the process activities defined in the Managed Services and Application Services Project Management Lifecycle (PMLC). The Project Manager provides delivery assurance of application development projects for clients through a range of internal and external functions in the following areas: Project Delivery, Project Management, Project Reporting and Process Improvement, and Management responsibilities. This role may require up to 25% travel
Key Accountabilities and Priorities:
Gain a clear understanding of customers' business requirements and their technical requirements
Validate the approach and solution design proposed by collaborating with customers and stakeholders to manage their expectations and resolve business issues in a timely manner
Maintain project status and support budget management activities
Deliver project according to the terms and conditions of our contracts
Collaborate with the Delivery Manager to ensure escalation procedures are documented and communicated to client, project team members, and managers
Implement knowledge management strategy and communicate processes and procedures
Perform issue management and facilitate issue resolution with proper notification to all affected parties
Identify and coordinate the change control process
Follow and promote the PMLC
Ensure that the project meets all compliance and governance standards
Follow the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and ensure that all roles aligned with the Project Manager are provided
Manage, mitigate, track and document risks and issues
Project Reporting and Process Improvement
Collect metrics and report on KPIs
Provide input into the design, development, implementation and improvement of service offerings, and internal processes
Work with Delivery Management and shared services groups to improve and implement changes to project delivery processes, methodology, and back office procedures
Understand and manage customer requirements (deliverables and environmental factors) to ensure contract compliance and customer satisfaction
Ensure project methodology is followed by the technical team from project kickoff to project closeout
Contribute to the financial and contractual oversight for engagement profitability
Drive future business through quality results
Ensure Service Management Office project management methodology is followed on all client engagements
Mentor and coach project team members
Provide feedback throughout the year on employee performance where required
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors Degree in CS/IT/IS (or related field)
7+ years experience in information technology and/or professional services
5+ years in IT project management /service management providing project management and daily operational oversight within an application development environment
Strong business acumen with the ability to gather business requirements, and translate them into a technical solution when required
Experience in managing, delivering and administrating client professional services agreements including the change management process
IT Experience: Project Manager, Business Analyst, Development, or other IT experience
In depth understanding of Services Outsourcing, PMI PMBOK
PMP certification. PMI-ACP a plus
3-5 years of agile project management experience
Fluent in Scrum. Knowledge of XP and Kanban a plus
Certified as a Scrum Master. Certified Product Owner designation a plus
Experience managing projects that used various new technologies such as .Net, Java/J2EE, iOS, Android, Open Source primarily for managing Application Development projects
Experience in Team Foundation Server and/or Jira
Requisite Abilities and/or Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills (English language), analysis and problem solving skills as well as excellent time management and organizational skills. Business proficiency in written and spoken French a plus
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Superior people and personnel management skills
Demonstrated advanced project data/ risk analysis and correlation/ mitigation skills
