VIA Rail Canada Inc., a leader in passenger transportation in Canada, is currently seeking applications for Refrigeration Mechanics to build a bank of potential candidates to fill positions that may become available in 2017 to work at it's Montreal Maintenance Center in Pointe St-Charles.
As a Refrigeration Mechanic for VIA Rail, you will be required to perform a multitude of tasks on locomotives and passenger cars. These tasks include some electrical work which you will be trained for such as the installation, replacement and repair of all electrical equipment and components. This includes equipment related to the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, control and lighting systems. You will, amongst other tasks, check and measure voltage, loads, grounding faults and circuit integrity. You will also execute the preventive maintenance programs.
The positions are permanent (40 hours per week) and the work schedule may vary (day, evening, night, week-end and holidays).
Hourly rate: $27.71-$33.42 /H - According to experience
Evening premium: $ 0.75 / H
Night premium: $ 1.00 / H
• Possess a vocational diploma in refrigeration.
• Possess a journeyperson license in refrigeration (an asset).
• Ideally a minimum of four years’ experience in refrigeration
• Possess relevant experience in maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems
• Extensive knowledge in reading and interpreting electrical plans
• Be able to work in a team and be creative in problem solving
• Be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
