VIA Rail Canada Inc., a leader in passenger transportation in Canada, is currently seeking applications for Diesel Engine Mechanics to build a bank of potential candidates to fill positions that may become available in 2017 to work at it's Montreal Maintenance Center in Pointe St-Charles.
As a Diesel Engine Mechanic, you will carry out preventive maintenance and running repairs on locomotives and rolling stock. Utilizing your skills and Via Rail Standards, maintenance manuals and tools, determine the causes of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic defects on the locomotives and perform the repair. You will also conduct inspections and maintenance on the locomotives in compliance with VIA’s preventive maintenance program in order to continually surpass Transport Canada’s standards.
The positions are permanent (40 hours per week) and the work schedule may vary (day, evening, night, week-end and holidays).
Hourly salary: $27.71- $33.42/H depending on experience
Evening shift differential: $0.75/H
Night shift differential: $1.00/H
• Vocational diploma in heavy vehicle mechanics or
• Vocational diploma in construction machine mechanics
• Inter Provincial certificate in mechanics
• Minimum of five years of experience in heavy duty mechanics, three of which are in diesel engine mechanical maintenance.
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Knowledge of air brakes
• Qualified in First Aid (asset)
• Proficient in English and French
