JOB DESCRIPTION – GENERAL REVISER (English to Canadian French)
The incumbent will be responsible for revising documents (general administration and operations, including IT texts) the majority of the time, but may also be called upon to revise technical or marketing texts for internationally recognized clients. The incumbent must also ensure that translated texts meet the employer's and client's quality standards. Texts to be revised are generally short, and delivery deadlines will be tight. The incumbent will also conduct quality control for the final product, evaluate in-house and freelance translators' work and work closely with translators and project managers. The incumbent ensures that work methods and quality standards are applied, makes recommendations on how these could be improved, if applicable, and sees to the enrichment of terminology and general reference material. The incumbent is responsible for settling any contentious linguistic issues identified at either the translation or proofreading stage, or by the client. He or she must understand and follow our internal linguistic processes.
The incumbent must use a good terminological research methodology, be comfortable with translation tools and be very familiar with computer tools. He or she must be detail oriented, resourceful and have good communication skills. The incumbent must also be curious, have actual revision experience, be flexible, be comfortable with technology and have good learning skills.
The incumbent will work as part of a dynamic team of linguists and project managers.
Essential – Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English and French
Essential – Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Essential – Relevant revision work experience
Important – Knowledge of translation tools (Trados, SDLX, Wordfast or equivalent)
Important – Ability to revise a minimum of 1000 words/hour
Essential – Minimum 3 years' relevant experience revising texts translated from English to Canadian French
Essential – Bachelor's degree in translation or equivalent experience
Essential – Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Essential – Very good interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
Essential – Attention to detail and quality
Essential – Available to work full-time at our offices
Asset – Member of a professional association (OTTIAQ, ATIO or CTTIC)
