BILINGUAL TRAUMA COUNSELLOR (SPECIALIST)
Job type: Full-time
Location: Montreal
The Trauma Specialist delivers trauma services comprising of: facilitation of workplace interventions, liaison with and coaching of corporate customers: internal and external consultation on escalated or complex requests for service, as assigned by Trauma Services manager, delegated responder network oversight duties. The workplace interventions generally involve defusing (one-on-one or group), debriefings (group) or on site support for terminations/downsizings.
Trauma Consulting
• Develops specialized products, services and training concepts for new or enhanced clinical offerings related to crisis or violence in the workplace and peer development systems
• Responds to broad based internal requests from Account Managers for crisis, trauma, workplace violence and peer training consultations which may include development of written content
• Responds to requests from internal colleagues to interface with domestic and international customers in order to provide consultation and crisis solutions which may include written response and on site service
• Delivers training related to trauma, workplace crisis, disaster management, workplace violence
• Provides local trauma service delivery and provides direct response and coordination, for complex trauma events
• Provides consultation on international/global requests for support
Qualifications:
Education:
• Minimum requirement of Master’s degree in a mental health field and basic training or certification in Critical Incident Stress Management from a recognized trainer or training institute (i.e. CISM, NOVA)
Experience:
• 1 year clinical experience with groups and CISM
• Broad based experience in wide range of clinical and organizational settings
Knowledge/Skills:
• Bilingual English/French required
• Formal training in Critical Incident Stress Management
• Broad range of clinical skills, some in area of trauma work
• Excellent knowledge and practice with groups
• Knowledge of impact of critical incidents, trauma in the workplace, effect on organizations and employees
• Sound knowledge of different workplace and organizational settings
• Good understanding of management/HR structure
• Demonstrated crisis management skills and ability to provide crisis solutions to customers
• Demonstrated knowledge of traumatic stress
• Demonstrated application of trauma response with varying incidents
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Solid written and oral communication skills
• Solid presentation skills
• Strong ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to work effectively and maintain calm disposition in situations that require immediate crisis support
• Ability to view timely and effective customer response as a key priority
• Ability to respond to unexpected, unusual situations with creativity and flexibility
• Familiarity with cultural diversity an asset
• Ability to work within a computerized environment.
Working Conditions:
• Services provided at workplace locations
• Very flexible availability required to respond within and outside regular business hours
• Required to participate in an after hours on-call rotation.
• Expected to carry cell phone or other department issued communication device
• Daily exposure to often disturbing information regarding tragic accidents and deaths
