Moms choose their dream careers

In time for Mother’s Day 2015, moms who visited our websites earlier this month were asked to vote for their dream job. Interestingly, the top dream careers are ones that let a mom (or anyone) work from home when not working with clients.

Here are the top 5 dream jobs chosen by the moms, along with descriptions of those jobs.

1. Interior Decorator

Imagine having a rewarding, career that lets you use your creativity to make homes and businesses more beautiful and comfortable. Welcome to the world of interior decorating!

Most interior decorators are hired to decorate residences, whether the entire home or a single room such as the living room, kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom.

Interior decorators are also hired to decorate interiors of a wide variety of businesses. After all, someone has to decorate those gorgeous art galleries, boutiques, corporate head offices, hotels, law firms, model homes, restaurants, and spas.

2. Image Consultant

“Image” is the way other people see us. It influences whether people will agree to our requests, hire us, and pay us the salary we want.

As an image consultant, you could give people advice that will help them achieve what they want – whether it is to get a new job, to make a good impression, or simply to feel good about themselves.

To help people make a better impression, you might give feedback and help them improve their overall image, specific aspects of their physical appearance (wardrobe, colors, hairstyle, etc.), or their vocal or non-verbal communication.

You might work with women who want a new look, beauty pageant contestants, lawyers and their clients, cancer survivors, television personalities, transgender individuals, spouses of executives, politicians, or even singles seeking a partner.

3. Event Planner

An event planner is a professional who organizes events. Any time people gather together for a purpose, someone is needed to oversee all the details to ensure the event happens and that it is a success. That someone — with a career that is fun, interesting, and rewarding — could be you!

When you think of an “event” you may think of something fabulous, such as the Academy Awards, Calgary Stampede, Winter Carnival, Grey Cup, or New Year’s festivities in Times Square.

Event planners are needed for all these events. However, event planners also work on thousands of smaller events ranging from charity fundraisers to film festivals to fashion shows, as well as corporate events of all kinds.

4. Gift Basket Maker

Are you a person who’s full of creative ideas? Do you look for reasons to celebrate? Are you known for giving the perfect gift?

When you start a gift basket business, you will have the opportunity to use skills you already have and work part-time from home. And one of the best things when you start a gift basket business is how quick and easy it is.

Gift baskets are incredibly popular with both senders and receivers, and the reasons to send a gift basket are virtually limitless. You might choose to specialize in gift baskets for particular occasions, such as baby or bridal showers, Christmas or other holidays, welcome or get-well wishes, or offer baskets for all types of occasions.

5. Freelance Writer

You may have dreamed of becoming a writer ever since you were a child, but now you can discover how to turn that vision into reality with this certificate course. In this course you will learn how you can start a freelance writing business and get hired to write for publication or write for clients.

If you are like many freelance writers, you love to see your writing in print. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of picking up a magazine, newspaper, or book and seeing your own words on the page – knowing that thousands of people will read what you have written.

And if you write for popular online publications, your words could be read by literally millions of readers. The icing on the cake is that you are paid to do something you love.

You might also consider writing for corporate clients, a form of freelance writing that can offer solid rewards including more stability and higher pay for many freelancers.
