Career development priority for job seekers
According to our most recent internal audit, the top two industry sectors on Jobboom.com are Construction/
Trades/Oil/Gas and Sales & Customer Service. The number of Jobboom profiles in these two popular job categories combined now surpasses 40,000. That said, career development is by far the hottest topic among job seekers. Nearly 60,000 Canadians created Jobboom Formation profiles, which allow people to see continuing education courses offered in their field of interest (currently offered in Quebec only).

PERSONAL AVANCEMENT
Phony degrees are a hot scam
Degree mills churn out phony accreditations. Unscrupulous individuals buy them. Did you know that you can get a Ph.D. in “Nuclear Engineering Safety” online? Doh, indeed! Phony degrees have been around since before the Internet, but this new medium has made them rampant. Be extra vigilant. These imposters could be in your immediate workplace environment. So, next time you're in a corner office, take a second glance at the framed diploma on the wall, just to make sure that everything's on the up-and-up. Franklin and Marshall? Is it a small, liberal-arts college in Pennsylvania or an Italian-made collegiate fashion brand?

However, you don't get to air all your gripes. Instead, you'll have to pick and choose your top two or three. You'll also have to edit out any sarcasm before you bring these issues up with your tormentor.

EDUCATION/TRAINING
Dons in revolt over 'unacademic' degrees
"Clapping for Credits," "Moons for Goons," "Rocks for Jocks," and "Time, Space and Matter" are just a sampling of "bird courses" that exist at most universities at the undergraduate level. In light of skewed enrollment figures, dueling academics take the gloves off over the validity of newer degrees such as "Complementary Medicine." One professor suggests offering Astrology in the future.

Deciding to switch isn't necessarily a failure but an opportunity to find work that you are more suited for. This will end up paying off, not just professionally but in all areas of life.

Are you... a workaholic? Perhaps your dedication to your job is having adverse effects on other parts of your life.
