Childhood prodigies

One of the Facebook founders, a mere twenty-something and a Harvard-dropout, used his social-networking savvy to vault Barak Obama to the presidency, so some say. Now as a Boston-based venture capitalist, he's looking for young minds with big ideas. Perhaps he'd like a large helping of SuperJam, the farm kitchen recipe of another whiz-kid doing it the old-fashioned way. Fret not, the starting quarterback and head cheerleader never left their hometown. In fact, many elite athletes struggle at becoming complete human beings

Utah sets up the 4-day workweek

At some point last year, Utah's state employees switched to working a four, ten-hour days. Proposed savings on energy costs motivated the state officials' decision-making. Full head of hair helps job search

Most middle-aged men fret about their fast-receding hairlines. Now, an expert claims male pattern baldness may hamper their job prospects. Typical workplace fraudster

Popular wisdom dictates that some men grow bitter by 40 – probably because their lives haven't amounted to what they'd imagined. According to an accounting firm's forensic practice, men between the age of 30 and 49 commit the vast majority of Canada's white-collar crime. Although it's usually small potatoes compared to Madoff's Ponzi scheme, these fraudsters are usually motivated by having the know-how and being under great financial pressure.

Career Q & A
Career Q & A Self-imposed ageism
An experienced security guard has outgrown the opportunities in his field. He believes he's an excellent communicator, but he's not willing to start over and feels insecure about his age in today's job market. Perhaps he needs to adjust his attitude. Rather than selling himself short, he should present his experience, professional and otherwise, as a benefit to potential employers.
