Are you too sexy for that job?
If we're to believe the lyrics of Right Said Fred, someone can be too sexy for a slew of things: love, shirts, cars, hats and cats as well as Milan, New York and Japan. According to the sexual therapist cited in this article, humans are innately sexual beings and cannot completely suppress their impulses from oozing out in the workplace. But is exploiting sexual desire a legitimate professional tool, akin to flexing a sense of humour? The general advice seems to be if you've got it, flaunt it without being overtly sexual, which may jeopardize your credibility. And, all male readers may want to take note that their kakis are definitely not sexy.

Job Interviews
Err fields
It's a jungle out there and the typical job hunt is laden with unexpected perils — all the more reason not to sabotage your own efforts. Job searches are akin to professional figure skating, in that each job opportunity requires a flawless performance. From having a credible sounding e-mail address, to not misspelling the addressee's name on the cover letter or omitting your contact info altogether, you need to safequard yourself from even the smallest desktop publishing blunders, which can booby trap your most sincere and well-intended efforts.

Post-retirement job hunting
Despite American legislation aimed at eliminating age discrimination, statistics show that the average job hunt takes nearly twice as long for individuals over 55 years as it does for their younger counterparts (22 weeks vs. 16 weeks). However, employment experts foresee a shift in the near future as many baby boomers will be retiring and there won't be enough workers to replace them. So, how do you go about collecting a "play-cheque" during the last years of your professional life? You could start by asking yourself one of the questions you ignored at the beginning of your career, e.g., "What would you do with your time if you won a million dollars?"

Workplace Challenges
HR trends
Like the teenage boys who compulsively read Cosmo-it's always a good idea to sneak a peek at the other team's playbook-in the workplace, it is essential that employees keep up-to-date on the latest HR developments. Although the long-term plan is to replace the human workforce with robots, it would be great to remain gainfully employed in the meantime. As such, some counter-intelligence is mandatory, especially since HR practice has become an integral part of corporate strategic planning over the last two decades, and is no longer just a strictly administrative unit or cost centre.

Career Options
A passion for fashion
So, you weren't cut out to be a supermodel or a fashion designer? Well, if you can't have your way on the catwalk and aren't equipped to take the helm of a sewing machine, perhaps a desk job in the fashion industry would suit you better. In fact, there's a pressing need for fashion executives and administrators - and we all know that's where the real money is. Colleges are responding to this runway trend with programs and increased course offerings in fashion management.
