Well, television's The Simpson is wrapping up their 18th season and the voices behind the beloved characters could have the best jobs in the world. They do the equivalent of one day's work per week for 22 weeks while earning six-figure salaries. Also, unlike other celebrity types, they're never mobbed by rabid admirers while out shopping on Rodeo Dr.

High-pressure jobs linked to mental problems
Many individuals accept high-pressure jobs for the financial rewards without calculating the detrimental effects on their health. A new long-term study from New Zealand links pressure-cooker jobs to clinical depression and anxiety with early symptoms appearing in individuals as young as 30 years old. Long hours, bossy bosses and misguided leadership are just some of the causes that Kiwi scientists identified.

Earlier in the Web 2.0 revolution, individuals were blogging while at work, now Facebooking is the new evil eroding job productivity. Remember: "to Facebook," the verb, you heard it here first.

So what's up with the person quizzing me anyway? Though it may be hard to initially understand the role of a recruiter, it's best to play nice for the sake of the opportunity at hand and future ones as well. They size up candidates on a couple of very specific areas, but are also susceptible to your subjective wiles. In the end, a large part of their decision will be based on their gut feeling of whether or not you are someone they would like to work with.

Five good reasons to change programs
"Hey! A degree in basket weaving just isn't as much fun as it seemed," you may say halfway through your studies. Considering a change of programs while in the midst of what you originally set out to do is a natural part of the process. It's merely a healthy curiosity, part of a personal exploration.
