Sex harassment prevention classes may be paying off
It’s been 15 years since Anita Hill lost it on Clarence Thomas for making lewd comments while at work. Prior to 1991, enduring such sweet talk from male colleagues seemed to be just part of a day at the office for some women. In the years after, there was a flurry of sexual harassment allegations. However, today, these instances are way down due to increased sensitivity and prevention.

Opposite ends of the labor market face opposite problems
The technology gap is the difference between the high-tech “haves” and “have-nots.” The personal computing and high-tech revolution of the last years is wreaking havoc on the top and bottom of the workforce. At the top-end, highly educated knowledge-workers have an increasing number of tools to help them accomplish their work, making them busier than ever. At the bottom-end, robots are gobbling up low-skilled jobs as shops and assembly-lines move towards automation.

Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation, weighs in on the current working conditions of the American meatpacking industry -- for the 100th year anniversary of Upton Sinclair’s novel The Jungle. Yet, a century later, jobs in slaughterhouses remain one of the most dangerous in all of manufacturing. With profits dictating a high throughput, the principal challenge for employees is to keep their knives sharp enough as they work on the fast moving carcasses.
